Gone are the days of paying your accountant unnecessarily large amounts of money to file your tax return. We’ll do it for you – £169, all in. Always.Â
We know how complicated and time-consuming tax returns can be and we also know how expensive using accountants can be. So we decided to bridge this gap with, well, ourselves.
At TaxScouts, we handle everything when it comes to filing your Self Assessment. As soon as you provide your accountant with all the necessary information (e.g. info about your income and expenses), they’ll be able to crack on with your tax return immediately.
We can help anyone who needs to file a Self Assessment tax return. Those of you that need to do this fall roughly into these three buckets 👇
There are many situations when someone would need to file a tax return, so it’s worth also checking out our guide on this very subject.
In the simplest sense, our accountants will need to know about your income and expenses. This can be clearly arranged in a simple spreadsheet. However, we know that every case is different, so you can always check our guide for more details on the documents that we may request from you. This can include things like invoices, receipts, record of assets, and your P60.
As you can probably imagine, our accountants love working with spreadsheets. So if you collate all your information using a basic template, it’s quicker for your accountant and also helps you keep a clear and organised record of your business finances, should you ever need to refer back to it.
If you don’t know where to start in creating a spreadsheet, you can download one of our specially made templates:
We’ll also need your personal details like your address, telephone number, National Insurance number, and UTR number.
A UTR number is your Unique Taxpayer Reference number. It’s a ten digit code which HMRC uses to identify you. Once you have it, it will never change and you’ll be asked for it whenever you submit a tax return. You’ll also be asked for it when you claim benefits or sometimes when you speak to HMRC.
You can apply for your UTR online and it will arrive to you by post. Usually, it takes 2-3 weeks from registering to receive it, so don’t leave it until the last minute! You need your UTR to file your return with TaxScouts, so if you don’t have it yet, this will add time onto how long it takes us to help.
Good question. Once you’ve answered all the questions and submitted all your documents to your accountant, they can have your tax return back to you to sign off on in as little as 48 hours.
Your accountant collates all the information you’ve provided and can get started on your tax return as soon as you’ve agreed to the terms of agreement. Make sure you don’t forget this step as your accountant can’t get started before then!
We think it’s always handy to know what is expected of you before you actually start. For that very reason, we’ve got a step-by-step guide to help you with the process.
Honestly, it couldn’t be easier.
