Looking for something a bit different? Traditional accounting practices can be pricey, inflexible and a long-term commitment. But we get that’s not what most people are looking for. That’s why we came up with this alternative: a human, friendly tax accountant who you can reach online, whenever you need them. And it’s all pay-as-you-go.
Got more questions? Ask away! Here are some FAQs related to our tax accountant service, but if you have any other questions, get in touch with our UK-based support team on [email protected] or via the live chat.
To add more services to your pay-as-you-go tax accountant, just login to your TaxScouts account and select the service you want. You pay for each service separately as you need it.
No strings attached, no monthly fees.
Your accountant is available online to answer any additional questions you may have about your tax return or the topics you discussed in your 1:1 tax advice consultation. They will also be your accountant every time you use TaxScouts, so think of them as your own personal accountant.
If you’d like your accountant to file another tax return for you, or you’d like another 1:1 tax advice consultation, this needs to be purchased separately before your accountant can support you. There’s no yearly limit to the services you can buy.
A UK tax accountant is someone that helps you stay on top of the tax you owe. They are trained in HMRCs rules and regulations so they can advise of everything you need to know about paying your taxes – when, why and how.
All of the TaxScouts services are 100% online.
This means that you can get in contact with your accountant wherever you are, whenever you need them. Just drop them a message via the TaxScouts platform or by email. For your 1-1 tax advice consultation, you can arrange a phone or video chat. You’ll then get a written summary including any next steps you discussed stored in your TaxScouts account to refer back to.
For your tax return, you can message your accountant via the platform or by email. Whichever method you prefer.
At TaxScouts, we partner with accredited accountants. This means that they’re not TaxScouts employees but instead run their own independent accounting businesses. As a result, once you’ve signed up, your accountant will contact you on the email they use to speak to their other clients, which is not a TaxScouts email. If you have any worries about this, don’t hesitate to drop our support team a message. They can verify your account’s credentials and reassure you of anything you’re worried about.
Get in touch with our support team either on [email protected] or via the live chat on the homepage.
Yes! As part of the tax accountant service, your accountant can register you for Self Assessment for free.
This means we can let HMRC know that you’re earning untaxed income and send off for your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number which you need to file your tax return.
It usually takes about 10 working days to arrive, but be aware that we don’t have control over it being sent to you. If you need to chase it up, you have to speak to HMRC directly.
Read more about how to get your UTR here.
Whilst we’re an HMRC recognised provider, we’re not able to contact them on your behalf. We also can’t fill out any forms they’ve sent you. This will have to be done by you! We can, however, advise on what their letters may mean and the best next steps.
Not sure what number you need to contact them? Take a look at our guide where we list the most important numbers to contact HMRC based on your situation.
During tax season (Dec-Jan), our accountants’ priority is filing your tax return in time for the deadline on 31st January. To help them do this, we temporarily limit the complexity of tax advice topics we can help with until the deadline has passed. Between December and the end of January, we’ll help with topics related to Self Assessment, CGT and foreign income only.
We’ll go back to our normal tax advice service from February. If you need a consultation on any topics outside the list, please reach out to our TaxScouts support team on [email protected]. We’ll try our best to help you.
In partnership with Koinly, you can now generate quick and easy crypto tax reports to use for tax filing. A crypto tax report details all of your cryptocurrency transactions – deposits, trades, or withdrawals you’ve made – during the tax year you want to file for, from every platform you’ve used. You can’t file without one, but compiling it is a long, time-consuming task for accountants without specialised software. Some trading platforms, like Koinly, can generate the report for you.
A crypto tax report includes your gains, losses and absolutely everything you need to accurately report your crypto profit, all in one.
Get up to 1000 transactions done for free and a big discount on anything more through Koinly. Once you’ve got your report, you can add it to your TaxScouts account in one click.
