The UK tax year for individuals starts and ends in April. After that you’ll have 7 to 10 months to prepare your tax return, depending on whether you’ll do the filing on paper (if filling out forms is your thing) or online.
Tax filing is done via self assessment.
If you’ve never done self assessment before you’ll have to register for it online with HMRC. The entire process can take few days as they will send you activation codes by post.
Our friendly taxbot helps you understand your personal income tax situation and suggests ways to reduce your tax bill.
